Extended Puppy Raising Program
In select situations, we may offer Extended Puppy Raising beyond the normal go-home age. This program is intended for buyers who are a good match for a particular puppy but may benefit from the puppy remaining with the breeder for additional time. Common reasons include upcoming travel, relocation, work commitments, show or performance goals, or a preference for receiving a slightly older and more developed puppy.
Puppies participating in this program continue to live in our home as members of our household and receive the same daily care, supervision, training, and enrichment as our own dogs.
Extended Puppy Raising is offered only on a limited, case-by-case basis. Availability depends on the individual puppy, the buyer's goals, my schedule, and available space within the home.

While puppies participating in the Extended Puppy Raising Program receive ongoing socialization, training, and development, Hayat Salukis makes no guarantee that any puppy will be fully trained or free from adjustment challenges upon transfer to a new home.
The goal of the Extended Puppy Raising Program is to provide a strong developmental foundation and continued progress, not to guarantee completion of any specific training milestone.
Buyers receive a weekly update summarizing their puppy's development, training progress, socialization experiences, and accomplishments.

What Is Included?
Puppies participating in the Extended Puppy Raising Program continue to receive:
- Daily care and supervision
- Feeding and routine household care
- Continued socialization
- Exposure to a variety of people, places, surfaces, sounds, and environments
- Age-appropriate training
- Crate training
- House training
- Basic leash training
- Weekly bathing, grooming, and nail trimming
- Training to comfortably accept handling and grooming procedures
- Attendance at age-appropriate puppy socialization and/or obedience classes selected by the breeder
While puppies participating in the Extended Puppy Raising Program receive ongoing socialization, training, and development, Hayat Salukis makes no guarantee that any puppy will be fully trained or free from adjustment challenges upon transfer to a new home.
- Regardless of age, there is typically a transition period during which the puppy must learn to accept a crate in a new location and understand where it is appropriate to potty within a new household.
- Puppies are living animals, and successful transition into a new environment depends on many factors, including the puppy's temperament, age, maturity, training consistency, household routine, and the Buyer's continued efforts after taking possession.
- Please also keep in mind that a puppy taken home at four (4) months of age will not have the same level of training or life experience as a puppy taken home at six (6) months of age. Likewise, a six-month-old puppy is still very much a puppy—just one with a stronger foundation, increased maturity, and generally better bladder control.
- Your puppy is still likely to go through fear periods and periods of shyness after 6 months old. Salukis mature at different rates, and temperament continues to develop well beyond six months of age.

- By twelve (12) weeks of age, we have typically begun crate training and the house-training process. During the program, we continue to build on those skills through regular socialization outings, leash introduction, continued house training, grooming practice, and foundation work for basic manners. Every puppy develops at an individual pace, and training is adapted to that puppy's maturity and progress.
Buyers receive a weekly update summarizing their puppy's development, training progress, socialization experiences, and accomplishments.
Age Range
- Extended Puppy Raising may begin after twelve (12) weeks of age and may continue until the puppy reaches six (6) months of age.
- Any arrangement extending beyond six (6) months of age requires a separate written agreement and is considered on an individual basis.
Fees
Extended Puppy Raising is currently offered at:
- $800 per month, payable in advance with partial months prorated at $26.67 per day.
- The monthly fee does not include veterinary expenses, emergency veterinary care, show entry fees, transportation, or other extraordinary expenses.
Health Insurance
- Buyers participating in the program are required to maintain pet health insurance for the puppy throughout the retention period and for the period required under the purchase agreement.
